It seems that alot of attackers use some tactic to get away with violence. Not many people know how to take care of themselves when faced with such a
situation. Everyone should read this especially each n every girl in this world. THOUGHT THIS WAS GOOD INFO TO PASS ALONG…

FYI - Through a rapist’s eyes! A group of rapists and date rapists in prison were interviewed on what they look for in a potential victim and here are some interesting facts:

1] The first thing men look for in a potential victim is hairstyle.
They are most likely to go after a woman with a ponytail, bun! , braid, or other hairstyle that can easily be grabbed. They are also likely to go after a woman with long hair. Women with short hair are not common targets.

2] The second thing men look for is clothing. They will look for women who’s clothing is easy to remove quickly. Many of them carry scissors around to cut clothing.

3] They also look for women using their cell phone, searching through their purse or doing other activities while walking because they are off guard and can be easily overpowered.

4] The number one place women are abducted from / attacked at is grocery store parking lots.

5] Number two is office parking lots/garages.

6] Number three is public restrooms.

7] The thing about these men is that they are looking to grab a woman and quickly move her to a second location where they don’t have to worry about getting caught.

8] If you put up any kind of a fight at all, they get discouraged because it only takes a minute or two for them to realize that going after you isn’t worth it because it will be time-consuming.

9] These men said they would not pick on women who have umbrellas,or other similar objects that can be used from a distance, in their hands.

10] Keys are not a deterrent because you have to get really close to the attacker to use them as a weapon. So, the idea is to convince these guys you’re not worth it.

POINTS THAT WE SHOULD REMEMBER:

1] If someone is following behind you on a street or in a garage or with you in an elevator or stairwell, look them in the face and ask them a question, like what time is it, or make general small talk:
can’t believe it is so cold out here, we’re in for a bad winter. Now that you’ve seen their faces and could identify them in a line- up, you lose appeal as a target.

2] If someone is coming toward you, hold out your hands in front of you and yell Stop or Stay back! Most of the rapists this man talked to said they’d leave a woman alone if she yelled or showed that she would
not be afraid to fight back. Again, they are looking for an EASY target.

3] If you carry pepper spray (this instructor was a huge advocate of it and carries it with him wherever he goes,) yelling I HAVE PEPPER SPRAY and holding it out will be a deterrent.

4] If someone grabs you, you can’t beat them with strength but you can do it by outsmarting them. If you are grabbed around the waist from behind, pinch the attacker either under the arm between the elbow and
armpit or in the upper inner thigh - HARD. One woman in a class this guy taught told him she used the underarm pinch on a guy who was trying to date rape her and was so upset she broke through the skin and tore out muscle strands the guy needed stitches. Try pinching yourself in those places as hard as you can stand it; it really hurts.

5] After the initial hit, always go for the groin. I know from a particularly unfortunate experience that if you slap a guy’s parts it is extremely painful. You might think that you’ll anger the guy and make him want to hurt you more, but the thing these rapists told our
instructor is that they want a woman who will not cause him a lot of trouble. Start causing trouble, and he’s out of there.

6] When the guy puts his hands up to you, grab his first two fingers and bend them back as far as possible with as much pressure pushing down on them as possible. The instructor did it to me without using
much pressure, and I ended up on my knees and both knuckles cracked audibly.

7] Of course the things we always hear still apply. Always be aware of your surroundings, take someone with you if you can and if you see any odd behavior, don’t dismiss it, go with your instincts. You may feel
little silly at the time, but you’d feel much worse if the guy really was trouble.

FINALLY, PLEASE REMEMBER THESE AS WELL ….

I know you are smart enough to know these pointers but there will be some, where you will go “hmm I must remember that” After reading forward it to someone you care about, never hurts to be careful in this crazy world we live in.

1. Tip from Tae Kwon Do: The elbow is the strongest point on your body. If you are close enough to use it, do it.

2. Learned this from a tourist guide to New Orleans : if a robber asks for your wallet and/or purse, DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM. Toss it away from you…. chances are that he is more interested in your wallet and/or
purse than you and he will go for the wallet/purse. RUN LIKE MAD IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!

3. If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car: Kick out the back tail lights and stick your arm out the hole and start waving like crazy. The driver won’t see you but everybody else will. This has saved lives.

4. Women have a tendency to get into their cars after shopping,eating, working, etc., and just sit (doing their checkbook, or making a list, etc. DON’T DO THIS! The predator will be watching you, and this is the perfect opportunity for him to get in on the passenger side,put a gun to your head, and tell you where to go. AS SOON AS YOU CLOSE the DOORS , LEAVE.

5. A few notes about getting into your car in a parking lot, or parking garage:
a. Be aware: look around your car as someone may be
hiding at the passenger side , peek into your car, inside the passenger side floor, and in the back seat. ( DO THIS TOO BEFORE RIDING A TAXI CAB) .
b. If you are parked next to a big van, enter your car from the passenger door. Most serial killers attack their victims by pulling them into their vans while the women are attempting to get into their cars.
c. Look at the car parked on the driver’s side of your vehicle, and the passenger side. If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest your car, you may want to walk back into the mall, or work, and get a guard/policeman to walk you back out. IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. (And better paranoid than dead.)

6. ALWAYS take the elevator instead of the stairs. (Stairwells are horrible places to be alone and the perfect crime spot).

7. If the predator has a gun and you are not under his control, ALWAYS RUN! The predator will only hit you (a running target) 4 in 100 times; And even then, it most likely WILL NOT be a vital organ. RUN!

8. As women, we are always trying to be sympathetic: STOP IT! It may get you raped, or killed. Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good-looking, well educated man, who ALWAYS played on the sympathies of unsuspecting women. He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked “for help” into his vehicle or with his vehicle, which is when he abducted his next victim.

Send this to any woman you know that may need to be reminded that the world we live in has a lot of crazies in it and it’s better safe than sorry.

FUCK ALL OTHER SCENARIOS I HAD IN MY HEAD. THIS. THISTHISTHIS. THIS.

The wind howled against his face, bringing with it a sharp chill from the freezing rain and icy stings from tiny shards of hail. Hiccup was soaked from helmet to boots, but he’d ceased shaking long ago. A crack echoed through the air as another bolt of lightning illuminated the sky and his path. Blue lips trembling, he still managed to call out to his dragon, “C’mon Toothless, you g-g-gotta hur-hurry.”

There was a snarl in response as the Night Fury dived. Hiccup sucked in a breath and pulled back on the harness, adjusting the tail. “T-try not to get too lo-low. They could s-s-still be following us.”

They’d left Berk just two days before, escaping after the sentinel had downed his last—drugged—mug of cheer and fallen into an artificial sleep. Hiccup had done his best to put them off their trail, even going so far as to circle around the old dragon’s nest. But even he had little hope on discouraging an entire village of battle ready Vikings for long, their axes sharpened and blood lust far from sated.

If things went according to plan, they would never get a chance to sate it either—on anyone.

Hiccup took a steady breath in, trying to calm down before he fell right off Toothless. The fastenings on the harness had broken a while ago and if he so much as squirmed the wrong way, he could find himself pitching forward headfirst into the thick woods. Spurned on by the sight of them, and knowing from his earlier perusal of the map that the kingdom had to be close now, he urged Toothless to go faster. It was met with a sharp jerk and another snarl.

He winced. He had been pushing Toothless rather hard, hadn’t he? Running his tongue over his chapped and frozen lips, Hiccup managed to say, “Oh, I’m sorry, boy. But you know what’s at stake here, right?”

There was brief whimper in response. Of course he knew.

Hiccup released a shaky breath as Toothless jerked forward with another burst of speed. They were sailing past that nearly endless wood now, and he could almost see a clearing in the foreground. He tried not to get his hopes up—they’d seen dozens like it before, even one castle that had turned out to be deserted and destroyed—but failed.

It was just so close now, he could almost taste it. A way out. An end to this madness.

It had been weeks since Hiccup had felt a single drop of normalcy in his life. He almost laughed at the thought. He lived with dragons in a village of murderous vikings and now he was missing the normalcy of it all. It was hilarious, really.

But then again, they’d never seemed that murderous. The Vikings, that is. Not before that damned report had come from the southern isles, reports that the Kingdom of the Four Brothers was being reunited, that there was, of all things, a princess leading the charge. The village had panicked and, knowing that attack was imminent, had readied the drums of war.

Hiccup’s heart sunk as he remembered the dark look in his father’s eyes, his far away voice; “I’ll get ‘em for you, Kolla.” No amount of reasoning had gotten through to him, and just as Hiccup had prepared to just give it up, Stoick had raised the call for the dragon’s to be outfitted with armor of their own.

A new found strength sunk into his bones, and he snapped to attention, realizing that he’d just set Toothless on a crash course with a large pine. Leaning back, he tugged the dragon into a sharp climb so that they simply skimmed the top. They climbed higher into the sharp night air until he released the harness.

Hiccup kept his eyes focused forward for any traces of light. He’d almost been fooled just hours before, when he’d almost sworn that there had been lights, blue ones, in the forest itself. A quick investigation revealed that there was nothing there and he’d hurried off on Toothless. These woods gave him the willies. It always seemed like someone, or something, was watching him.

Just as he was about to shade his eyes again from the biting hail, Hiccup made out a soft yellow light, flickering in the distance. He held his breath with anticipation as he squinted to see it better. Was it—yes! A castle! An actual castle! He almost yelled for joy.

This had to belong to the Clan DunBroch, the one that rumors had said housed that vicious princess. All he had to do was get in there and convince them to stop the assault before they got slaughtered by the incoming dragon horde his father was riding in on. The small spark of hope he’d been nurtured after he had made his fateful escape from Bark fanned itself into a roaring fire.

He could do this.

The sky seemed to bellow along with him as a great roar of thunder blew past him. A big grin cracked itself across his face and he stretched his arms to the sky to celebrate as he cried, “We did, we really did it!” He whooped and Toothless barrel rolled in happiness, causing Hiccup to quickly grab on, still grinning from ear to ear.

A sudden crack of lightning shot down from the massive gray clouds and into the highest point it could find. Him.

The world burst into color as he screamed and screamed and screamed. Electricity surged through his bones and cracked and splintered and there came a searing burn before everything went white. The fight for consciousness done and over with, Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III plummeted alongside his faithful dragon.

As he was not awake to see it, a certain sharp-tongued girl would later tell him that it had only been the forethought of his beast that had saved him. The creature had wrapped itself around him and cushioned the blow to the ground, it’s thick black scales saving both their lives, from what she could see.

But that was later.

As it was, they were lucky enough to land in a clearing nearby, thankfully avoiding all the peculiar stones that protruded from the ground and formed a near circle. Their bodies laid strew in the center of that most ominous place, a coincidence, of course.

Near dead from both exposure and the blast, they would have surely left this mortal plane if it hadn’t been for stupidity of one blacksmith. It seemed, that with his workload high, this blacksmith had thought that he could get the one up on his tasks by simply selling cobbling together certain horse shoes with the brittle excess scrap metal, never thinking that a pair of those shoes would end up on the Princess’ favorite horse.

And as a pair of those very shoes nearly split themselves on one of her famed shooting practices, the princess was then forced to walk her horse back at a gingerly pace back to the castle, cursing that foolhardy smith’s name with every step and even more when she found herself caught in the storm.

It was in this manner that Princess Merida of the Clan DunBroch happened upon two charred creatures laying in the middle of the stone circle.

Hiking up her skirts, Merida rushed forward, collapsing right before their bodies. She was never one to care how bruised or maimed a person was, but even she couldn’t keep herself for cringing away at the poor figure. “Oh, you poor lad.”

There was a soft growl by her side. She snapped back just before a wicked tail whipped through the space her body had just moments ago been occupying. Her eyes widened as she recognized it’s form from the tapestries that used to line the Great Hall. Her voice came out a ragged whisper, “Yer a dragon.”

It snarled in response.

Merida nearly ran right then, but then her eyes flickered over at the ruined boy of the boy beside her. “He was your rider, yes?”

It’s bleary eyes blinked once, not losing any of their distrust. She raised her hands to placate it. “Leuk, he needs help. I can give it to him. You hae to trust me, alright?”

It growled once more but then fell silent as it processed her presence. It could smell death on the boy, coming quick, and if this girl could save him…

Merida saw when the dragon finally slouched down in surrender. She sighed a breath of relief. Frightful thing. She’d had quite enough of big, hulking, supernatural animals, thank you very much.

She leaned in closer to the boy, trying to figure out which way to lift him from the harness without ripping that much skin off. Too much of it had been seared onto the steel by the lightning. She bit her lip, forehead furrowing in thought. Lightly turning him over, she inspected the damage further.

What she saw made her gasp.

“No,” Merida said softly, recognizing what was left of his charred clothes.

A viking. He was a viking. She remembered enough from her mother’s lessons to know that he would probably kill her, and the rest of her family, on sight. He was a threat, not only to the Kingdom, but to her family. If any of the warriors had happened upon him they’d put a sword right through his treacherous guts.

But he looked so small, and frail, even without the burns…

No. She could finish him off now, very easily, by just walking away. Just getting up, stretching her feet, and walking away. Simple as that.

If only her limbs would agree. Mouth pursed in thought, she gazed once more at the boy. He had freckles like hers…

Merida clenched her fists, her mind made up. She would give him a chance, and only that. Strip him of the dangerous clothes that marked him as the enemy, toss them in the river, and take him back to the castle. If he tried anything after he recovered, if he recovered, then there would be more than enough warriors to take him on.

Slowly peeling him away from his mount, Merida hefted the small boy up on her shoulders. With the wretched dragon following, she hurried towards her horse before she changed her mind. Whatever he did after this, it wasn’t her fault. All she was doing was giving the poor lad the chance to choose his own fate.

Batty, you are absolutely fantastic. This fanfiction is perfection omgggg

Let’s have a second to look back on these last few months, where we saw our little fledgling Borra ship grow from a barely identifiable blip on the horizon into one of the most popular ships in the Avatar Fandom! Seriously, guys, a round of applause or something is pretty much necessary right now.

Err, I’ll assume that’s happening and go on.

(ahem)

Now, Borra is ship that is near and dear to all our hearts, and I myself have been absolutely bowled over by the sheer amount of talent and complete awesomeness that all you fantastic Borra shippers seem to share. It was the least I could do to make this manifesto, where I tried to analyze all the Borra moments in the entire season. Hope you guys enjoy reading it as much I did making it!!

Technology is getting creepier.

So I know a lot of you like Xbox and I do as well, but I feel it’s necessary to spread this information around as much as possible.

The Xbox One is just a fail in my eyes and I thought that before I even read this information. I believe the reveal was a joke and all these features just show me how awful it is.

A pastor in Seoul, South Korea has created a “baby box” for people so that people who would otherwise abandon or kill their newborns can leave them somewhere safe instead. The box has a light, a towel lining, and a bell rings as soon as a baby is placed in it so the pastor, his wife, or one of his staff can come and get it right away.

Lee Jong-rak started the box in 2009, and has welcomed all babies, often disabled or the children of single mothers, that have been placed in the box since. The babies are given a loving home, food, and shelter in his orphanage. Currently, an average of 17-18 babies are placed in the box every month.

One mother who had considered poisoning her baby before she heard about the Baby Box left her baby in the box with a letter pinned to his clothing that read:

‘My baby! Mom is so sorry.
I am so sorry to make this decision.
My son! I hope you to meet great parents,
And I am very very sorry.
I don’t deserve to say a word.
sorry, sorry, and I love you my son.
Mom loves you more than anything else.

What are studios looking for? How can I get into a good animation school? What should I be studying?

I get a lot of these types of questions now and again, and I never know how to answer them. I can’t be sure of what studios are looking for, I don’t control admissions policies to schools, and I have little idea what makes for a current and relevant curriculum. There are a lot of variables in your bid for a career in animation, and it’s kind of impossible to control most of them. You must be crazy to want this job!

I find it helpful to focus on the things I can control. Among those things are your study habits and how you spend your personal time. It’s good to work hard and have goals—without them we would get nowhere. Study hard and make decisive strides towards achieving your art goals. But in the heat of that pursuit, don’t forget to go out and live your life!

If you spend any amount of time looking at artists online, you’ve probably figured out by now that there are about a million dudes and dudettes in internetville who draw better than you (I relive this realization daily). Once your have done your best to rise to their level, the only tool you have to compete with these crazy talents is your background, your personal character—is you!

Consider developing your whole self with the same raw focus and intensity that you develop a particular skill set. Get focused. Go out, have adventures. Run, jump, skin your knee, fall in love, root loudly for the away team at a baseball game, barely escape a crash of stampeding rhinos, live to see another day. Experience things big and small. Go for a walk. The world is full of wonders.

I know this advice is not particularly animation-specific, but maybe that’s for the best. At any rate, it is something I feel strongly about. Animation is great, and there are few things that I enjoy doing more than drawing and storytelling. But in order to have stories to tell, first you have to live them.
